Working with AdventNet SNMP Agent for Linux

 

The product has a "manager" software also called Remote Installation Tool and an "agent" software bundled together.  After extracting the product zip file we have

 
Linux Manager / Remote Installation Tool


          This product is used for remote installation of the agent.  Linux Manager discovers all the linux nodes present in a specified domain. After discovery of the linux nodes,  the manager UI can be used to install the LinuxAgent in  the required machine by just clicking the "Install Agent"  link.  After  installation of the LinuxAgent in the target machine, the LinuxAgent can be accessed from the Manager UI, just by clicking on the machine name / image. Linux Agent


        LinuxAgent, running in Linux machines is used to get various system specific information.  The information is used for proactively monitoring and managing the Linux systems.  The information obtained is based on standard MIBs RFC-1213-MIB and HOST-RESOURCES-MIB and a pre-defined MIB called AdventNet-Linux-MIB.  The information can be obtained from the LinuxAgent from any SNMP Manager.  LinuxAgent, in addition to exposing information via SNMP, also provides information via HTTP which can be viewed from a Web console (Web Browser).
